Actions
Justyna works as a Group Product Manager at DeepL. She is responsible for the Core Platform track, you can also blame her for the early versions of DeepL Write. She has explored many sides of IT before: programming, R&D, academia, translations, product, engineering, leadership. She has finally recognised product as the place to be, as she enjoys the impact of the role and the challenges brought by indirect leadership. Justyna lives in PoznaĆ, Poland with her husband, two little daughters and one very big dog. She runs an airbnb in a Polish forest, very popular among the citizens of Berlin.
Product Managers' Eternal Battle with Refactoring
The word "refactoring" can be triggering to product people. There are good and bad reasons to refactor, but it is not always clear where the line is. Refactoring is also one of the main reasons why development teams, especially on the backend side, refuse to work with the product organisation. Product managers fear that engineering will run wild with unnecessary refactorings. Engineers fears becoming a feature factory with no say about code quality. In my talk, I will argue that there is a method to this madness.
