Securely Manage Your Azure Environment like a true Cloud Jedi

Security is a core part of everything, not just in Azure. Where Azure obviously is built with security in mind, it takes a bit more of a design effort to really get your workloads running 100% secure. We are going to talk about the security aspects of different technologies and services. If identity becomes the new security perimeter instead of the network, then great focus must be given to that identity. That's exactly what this session focuses on: learning how to architect and deploy for security of your Identity, Azure IaaS and PaaS workloads. Starting with Managed Identities and Azure Network security, Wim and Karel will jump over to PaaS services like Azure Key Vault and Microsoft Defender for Cloud to protect your Azure environment. By the end of the session you will have learned about multiple dimensions to achieve various levels of security and how you can increase it for running your business critical workloads in Azure!

Battle for the Hybrid Cloud: The Christmas edition

Windows Admin Center vs Arc. We will highlight the possibilities to manage Arc resources with Windows Admin Center.

The Insider's Guide to Azure Arc

In this modern cloud era, more and more companies are using a hybrid or multi cloud model. Mostly they will have some IT resources, whether they are physical hardware, VMs, Kubernetes clusters or databases, that will stay in their data center or at the edge, or they even already have resources running in different clouds. Beside that most of them also see their application landscape moving towards a container-based approach.
And for all those companies the need to orchestrate and properly manage all those resources is incredibly important.

Luckily these days Azure Arc offers simplified management for all their resources running on-premises or in any other public cloud, and this from a single pane of glass. In this session, we will show you how you can standardize operations and how to apply compliancy across a wide range of resources and locations. You will also learn how you can attach and configure Kubernetes clusters located inside or outside Azure with the use of Azure Arc enabled Kubernetes. And how to run Azure Data Services, like Azure SQL Managed Instance or Azure PostgreSQL, on-premises and in a multi-cloud environment.

So join us in this session and learn all about Azure Arc and learn how to bring modern cloud native development techniques anywhere!

Cloud migration, that's one small step for Azure Migrate

In today’s modern hybrid Cloud world, moving workloads to Azure has never been easier. Doing it right though, that's a bit more difficult. In this session we'll take a detailed look at how Azure Migrate can help you during your complete cloud migration journey and brings simplicity across all phases, from discovery to assessment and finally to the migration itself. We'll show you real life examples on how it helps you to identify the right workloads and tell you all about some common migration pitfalls and how to avoid them. Next to that you will learn some cost optimization tips which can reduce your overall Cloud sp€nd when your workloads are finally moved to Azure.

The future of ARM Templates with Project Bicep

What is Azure Bicep and how does it work? We will have a look at Azure Bicep for deploying Azure resources declaratively. If you’ve ever worked with ARM Templates, you know it’s hard to learn the JSON language, and write complex templates. With Azure Bicep, you write the bicep files and compile those into ARM Templates. In this session, we'll take a look into building a bicep file to deploy your Azure environment.

In some live demos, we will take some bicep files in, and generate ARM templates. We will learn you how to use Azure Bicep and you will see that it is easier to use and maintain, because of simplicity.

The Complete Beginner's Guide to Powershell in Azure Functions

Serverless computing is a cloud computing code execution model in which the cloud provider fully manages the infrastructure needed to serve requests.

In this session, we will explain why and how we should use Azure Functions and PowerShell together, and we will show you how to deploy a PowerShell based Function.

In some live demos, we will explain how to create a Function and execute some cool PowerShell code!

Top 10 Azure Architecture principles

Building, upgrading, and maintaining an Azure platform where Enterprises deploy mission critical applications is no easy task.

Can you imagine how easy it would be if you didn’t have to worry about backup and update management?
Can you imagine how easy it would be if you could redistribute costs towards different business units easily?
Can you imagine how easy it would be if you could measure your environment against regulatory compliancy frameworks at any given time?

This session is all about those failures, what went wrong and how we resolved them.
We will provide you with our best practices, and help everyone else to avoid making these same mistakes in the future.

Topics we will discuss:
- Financial Governance
- Resource Lifecycle
- Policies & Automation

Ready for take-off, 4 steps to make your Cloud Journey a success!

In today’s modern hybrid cloud world, many companies are moving a subset of their on-premises applications and workloads to the Cloud. As a result, their employees start using a combination of on-premises and cloud-native applications or services in their daily jobs. This shift will give them more flexibility, accessibility and will make them more agile and future proof. However, al lot of those companies still struggle with this move and have a lot of unanswered questions. How much would it cost? What would be the best migration path to choose? This session will clarify some of those questions and myths, by taking 4 easy steps to make your “Cloud Journey” a success. You will not only learn all about Azure services like, Azure Migrate and Azure Cost Management. But also how Azure Advisor and Azure Service Health can keep you informed about outages and best practice recommendations.

Let's get you started with high availability and resiliency on Azure

There are many aspects and design considerations to keep in mind, when deploying highly available applications in a public Cloud. Were Azure obviously is built with high availability and resiliency of services in mind, it takes a bit more of a design effort to really get your workloads 100% high-available. And that's exactly what this session focuses on: learning how to elevate and architect the up time of your Azure IaaS and PaaS workloads, to go from the out-of-the-box default SLA's to an almost 100% SLA to keep your applications up and running.

Starting with Virtual Machines, Networking and Storage design best practice patterns, Wim and Karel will jump over to Platform services and show you multiple dimensions to achieve various levels of high availability and how to increase resiliency for your business critical workloads in Azure!

Azure Automanage for virtual machines

Azure Automanage for virtual machines is a service that eliminates the need to discover, know how to onboard, and how to configure certain services in Azure that would benefit your virtual machine. These services help enhance reliability, security, and management for virtual machines and are considered to be Azure best practices services, such as Azure Update Management and Azure Backup - just to name a few. You will not only learn how Automanage eliminates the need to discover, know how to onboard, and how to configure certain services in Azure that would benefit your virtual machine, but also how it configures each best practice service to its recommended settings. So join me in this session to learn some tips, tricks and things you should keep in mind.

7 habits every Azure Admin must have

The systems administrator role is perhaps one of the oldest in computer technology. However in this modern cloud computing world some of them will evolve into Cloud Administrators. As for those admins? It could be a case of how more things change, the more they stay the same. In their new role as an Azure Administrator they will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining Azure resources and use a complete new skill set. In this session you will learn 7 habits every new Azure admin must have. You will not only learn about Azure Cost Management, and Azure Governance, but also which tools you can use to connect securely to your Azure resources. So join us in this session to learn some tips, tricks and things you should keep in mind in this new job role.
