What Organizations are Still Getting Wrong When Moving to SharePoint Online

SharePoint Online has come along way in the past few years. Not only has modern SharePoint removed much of the learning curve when it comes to creating and editing pages, a standard E3 license presents hundreds opportunities to digitize, integrate, and automate. Unfortunately, too many organizations are still thinking about SharePoint as a stand-alone platform, and leave the planning of the rest of the M365 suite for a later date.

This type of thinking not only limits the return on investment, it is often paired with limited training and governance that puts thoughtfully planned architecture and data security at risk. Two quick examples: out of the box, there are 9 different ways for end users to create a SharePoint Site Collection, and only 1 of them where it's apparent to them that a site is being created at all. The second: end users who are not aware of, or not allowed to use the other apps in the M365 suite take matters into their own hands and spin up some shadow IT.

In this session, I'll talk about the top missteps organizations make in their move to SharePoint Online, and how to course correct.
