Parent-Child Empowerment through Social Deconstruction

The workshop will cover various dimensions of culture and social cognitive activities we can implement to decrease helplessness or a loss of stability within the family structure. During a time people are questioning their self-worth and ability to keep going, we will focus on those questions that lead to discomfort and begin to address these conversations within the family context. Education on social cognition and socialization is central to deconstructing family conflicts we believe we cannot control. In addition, deconstructing social conflicts can lessen feelings of helplessness and depression among family members.

During the workshop we will review the meaning of identity formation and begin to breakdown the social constructs learned in the family context. Information and strategies provided in this workshop along with questions during breakout sessions and open-ended questions using Menti.com will assist in this process. Be prepared to write notes and engage in an interactive workshop focused on parent-child socialization, identity development, and building self-motivation/efficacy.
