Ken W. Alger is a developer educator, systems architect, and technical communicator focused on the intersection of AI systems, institutional memory, developer experience, and digital preservation.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has worked across government, infrastructure, developer education, cloud platforms, and community building. His background includes teaching software development, leading developer-facing initiatives, and helping technical communities adopt complex technologies through practical education and documentation.

Ken is the recipient of MongoDB's 2018 William Zola Outstanding Contributor Award and has held developer advocacy, platform experience, and technical content leadership roles at organizations including MongoDB, Heroku, Cisco, and Treehouse.

More recently, his work has focused on local-first AI architectures, provenance-aware knowledge systems, conversational access to institutional archives, and the emerging challenges of long-term digital memory. He is the creator of the Sovereign Systems Specification, an open-source framework exploring deterministic context engineering, operator-owned AI infrastructure, and the economic realities of large-scale AI systems.

His talks combine technical architecture, real-world implementation experience, and a deep interest in how organizations preserve, retrieve, and reason over knowledge in an increasingly AI-driven world.

He lives in Oregon with his family and enjoys all the opportunities the Pacific Northwest provides.
