Kerstins first C++ software project consisted of porting an MFC application to Qt. That was back in 2008, when she was still a computational engineering student at TU Darmstadt. Back then it took almost half a day to compile Qt on the lab computer, and she always hoped that she wasn't forced to use a different machine and start all over.

A bachelors, a masters degree and 7 years of work life later, the problems she faces today aren't so much different from those she first encountered during her student days.
Working in a tooling group of a research department in the automotive industry, she's trying to introduce new tools and workflows to make her fellow engineers life easier.

Projects in the past years included porting a large scale project from Visual Studio first to CMake, then to Linux. Setting up CI toolchains for automated build and deploy processes. And currently introducing Conan as a C++ dependency management system to simplify build, development and deploy workflows across multiple operating systems and system architectures.
