Kevin Kandamby (he/él) is a MexiLankan (Mexican and Sri Lankan) first-generation child of immigrants. He is currently a doctoral student at UCLA in the Department of Chicana/o and Central American Studies with a concentration in Asian American Studies. His research interests include exploring how the growing AsianLatinx community in the United States navigates, negotiates, and expresses their mixed identity as a way to resist and challenge monoracial understandings of race. Informed by his own lived experience, Kevin hopes that his research can work towards dismantling homogenous understandings of Latinidad and racialization processes to become more inclusive of those who have been pushed to the margins—even within our respective communities of color.
