Lavanya is a Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) alumni of the prestigious Language Technologies Institute (LTI). She currently works as a Sr. AI/ML Applied Associate at JPMorgan Chase in their specialized Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) vertical and has over 5+ years of industrial research experience in ML and NLP. Throughout her academic and professional journey she has received several awards like Best Student Award (Gold Medal), Innovation Star Award 2017 (HSBC), and RISE Award 2018 (HSBC).

She is an enthusiastic technical speaker and has participated in panel discussions at Women in Data Science (WiDS) 2021, PyData, Illuminate AI 2021, TensorFlow User Group (TFUG), and MindHack! Summit. Her most recent research focused on the long-context capabilities of LLMs was accepted at EMNLP 2024. Additionally, she is a committed mentor to aspiring data scientists and machine learning enthusiasts through collaborations with various organizations, including Anita Borg and Women in Coding and Data Science (WiCDS).
