Dr. Leslie Singleton received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Houston with a minor in Asian Studies where she was able to study abroad in China through the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business and Asian Studies departments. She also has a Master of Business Administration from Prairie View A&M University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University.
Dr. Singleton currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Student Health & Well-Being and Instructional Assistant Professor for the College of Medicine at Texas A&M University (Houston campus). She currently serves as the chair of the First-Generation Committee for professional students and as the faculty advisor for the First Gen in Health student organization.
Dr. Singleton previously served as Assistant Dean of Student Services for the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) at Texas Southern University in addition to her appointment as Assistant Professor for the undergraduate health administration program. The primary responsibilities of her role as the Assistant Dean included admissions and student affairs oversight of nine bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in the health disciplines of pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, healthcare administration, clinical laboratory science, environmental health, health administration, health information management, and respiratory therapy.
With over 20 years in education Dr. Singleton also helped to create, develop, and lead many campus-wide initiatives to include peer-to-peer mentoring, tutoring scholars academy program, intrusive advising program (e.g., first-year undergraduate, professional, at-risk students) TIGER CARE program (student success plan for early alert students), summer academy transitions program (e.g., new professional phase health sciences and pharmacy students), and the TEAM (Teaching, Enrichment, Advising, &Mentoring) academic success and faculty development center. In addition, she has provided oversight for the following areas of student services: academic advising, career services, financial aid, registrar services, student accounts, student discipline, student life, veteran services, and ADA accommodations at various institutions.
