Lorenzo Confalonieri is a Graduate Research Assistant and Ph.D. student in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering and Texas Robotics at The University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on the development of a robotic-enabled SPECT system for adaptive imaging under the supervision of Dr. Elena Maria Zannoni, Director of the Translational Radiological Advanced Imaging Lab (TRAIL).
He received his M.Sc. in Physics with honors from the University of Milan, Italy, in 2023. During his master’s studies, he conducted research at the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) under the supervision of Prof. Flavia Groppi, focusing on optimizing the production of terbium radioisotopes for theranostic applications in nuclear medicine. He earned his B.Sc. in Physics with honors from the University of Milan in 2021, where he worked with Dr. Stefano Carrazza on the development of novel quantum-based computer vision models.
Lorenzo is a recipient of the Academic Enrichment Award from the Graduate School at The University of Texas at Austin.
