Luis Alejandro Vega is a 34-year-old Engineering Manager and Technical Lead at Bloomberg L.P. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Alejandro moved to the United States at the age of 16 in pursuit of success and a promising future. He holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Florida, titles he earned as Summa Cum Laude and valedictorian of his class. Upon graduation, he acquired two years of experience at Sage Software while pursuing a masters degree in Software Engineering also from the University of Florida.
In 2010, Alejandro moved New York City to join Bloomberg’s Charts and Data Visualization Engineering department in charge of building and designing the world’s leading financial graphical applications.
His critical and impactful projects ranged from allowing users to research, compare and study multiple financial instruments through meaningful graphics to developing today’s markets trend charts showcased in Bloomberg Television.
In 2017 and looking to take on even bigger challenges, Alejandro transitioned to Software Infrastructure to build and lead the team responsible for owning, creating and revamping all of Bloomberg’s engineering applications. His team provides the infrastructure required for development, deployment, and troubleshooting of 15,000+ Bloomberg terminal features, empowering 5000+ engineers on a daily and reliable basis.
