Marc Nead is the St. Clair Catholic District School Board’s Social Emotional Learning Lead Educator. In his role, he supports principals and educators in developing supportive learning environments for students across elementary and high schools. He also, is active in deepening social-emotional learning competencies in students and teachers, through the use of evidence-based practices and activities. Marc’s background is as a classroom teacher. He has taught 7th and 8th grade for 15 years and has also spent time working at the district level working with teachers to implement mathematics curriculum initiatives. In 2015, he co-authored a curriculum document detailing strategies to use student voice and agency to positively impact pedagogical practices and classroom instruction. He has an honour’s degree in History and a Bachelor Of Education degree from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada.
Rowing the Boat in the Same Direction: An anchored, systematic approach to student and adult SEL
Coming together in a purposeful and intentional manner to communicate, implement and anchor learnings through a whole system K-12 SEL approach is critical to improving student outcomes. Learn the collaborative framework which involves “add water and row” strategies, monitoring and sharing intended and unintended consequences yet keeping the many eyes focused on the SEL nautical chart goals.
