Marc Schoenefeld is an information security professional with over 20 years of experience in vulnerability research and software security. He first appeared at Black Hat in 2002 with his talk Security Aspects of Java Bytecode Engineering. Over the years, his work has earned recognition including entry into the Chromium Hall of Fame. He is a former member of the Red Hat Security Team, where he identified numerous Linux and JDK issues, including the research presented in B0rken Fonts at CanSecWest 2011. Today, he works on the Oracle Java Team, focusing on identifying, triaging, and handling bugs in the JDK and related products. In his spare time, he continues reversing and vulnerability research, with recent findings including CVE-2024-23300 in GarageBand.
