Architecture Governance: Do You Deliver Added Value?
Every MasterChef contestant starts with a recipe. A vision. A beautiful plate in their mind's eye. But what gets served to the judges is not always what was designed in the kitchen, and the gap between the two is where reputations are made or broken.
Enterprise architecture faces the exact same problem. Architects design. Organisations build. And somewhere between the blueprint and the go-live, the original intent gets lost, compromised, or quietly forgotten. The question no one wants to answer is: how do you actually know?
In this session, Marco Kelderman draws on 25+ years at the intersection of architecture, financial services, and healthcare to tackle the accountability gap head-on. Using a practical four-step method; create, communicate, control, coach, he explores what it takes to move architecture governance from a paper exercise to a discipline that demonstrably delivers value.
This is not a talk about frameworks or compliance checklists. It is a frank, practical conversation about the difference between designing the dish and serving it, and the craft required to close that gap consistently.
Enterprise Architecture Insight Europe 2025
State-of-Art IT-Landscape, The AZL story.
Description
In this presentation, we share the inspiring story of AZL, a leading pension administration organization in the Netherlands, and how it successfully migrated from an on-premise and monolithic architecture to a modern cloud environment with a domain architecture. This transformation enables AZL to operate more flexibly and at scale in a changing (pension) landscape.
AZL applied a 'light design upfront' approach, where the outlines and guidelines of the architecture were defined, and the realization was shaped 'on the fly'. This allowed AZL to remain adaptive and flexible during implementation and to respond quickly to new insights and changing conditions.
