Kanban in Jira, but for real

Despite what many people think, the Kanban method is much more than just boards. And while starting to work with paper boards is great, we need to bring them into the virtual world. For this, there are hundreds of tools and my favorite is Jira and I would love to share with you why, because I think it can help you a lot in the implementation of this method.

Why doesn't the Kanban community choose Jira? Why is Jira not considered an acceptable tool for the Kanban method from the beginning? Although Atlassian has its own Kanban template, teams starting to work with this method miss some features that are not foreseen. For the first time, Kanban experts and Jira consultants work together to find the best solution to this problem. Of course, it is possible to follow the Kanban method in Jira. And I would like to show you how you can do it.

The Jira board must allow a total configuration: creation of sub-columns within the columns, expand or reduce the columns created, set wip limit also in the swimlanes and, in short, adapt it to what your team needs to work and evolve. In addition, Kanban metrics must be in a single space, accessible from the dashboard, updated in real time and configurable as needed. Depending on the maturity of your team, the Confluence space associated to your board must guide you through the process, accompanying you with the appropriate documentation and being part of the team's agreements.
