Agile Essentials Workshop: Facilitation

Facilitation skills make the difference between dreaded “meetings” and engaging, productive team activities. Facilitation skills are essential for all roles in an agile development team – whether technical, product, design, or coach – because they’re crucial for cross-functional collaboration, conflict resolution, decision-making, navigating uncertainty, fostering a flexible/trusting team environment, and most of all, making agile’s frequent meeting cadence useful and even enjoyable. Hone your facilitation skills to ensure your team achieves the desired outcomes.

In this engaging workshop, we’ll learn facilitation skills by getting hands-on and putting the facilitation skills into practice. When done well, they seem like magic! We will demystify the great techniques used by effective facilitators. You will see that they’re completely achievable with a bit of listening and a bit more practice.

Agile Essentials sessions are designed for first-time Agile Alliance conference attendees and anyone new to Agile or looking for a refresh. Each one provides a broad overview of key agile practices and the principles behind them. You’ll leave feeling grounded, up-to-date on the latest agile concepts, and ready to take on new challenges in any role or any agile framework.

From Release Gatekeepers to Product Builders

Release trains run on fear. We broke that cycle by treating our CD platform as a product rather than a gate. The result: real adoption, trusted automation, and 10x faster delivery.

And what about Scrumban?

I would like to talk about issues the teams find with Scrum and how we can address them by introducing Kanban practices and philosophy
1. People working separately in platforms
2. Unmeaningful dailies
3. Horizontal burndown charts
4. Half of the user stories in progress on the first day of the sprint
5. Dragging user stories from one sprint to another

How to help mitigate those issues and increase collaboration and teamwork?

One of the options is by introducing elements of Kanban Method into Scrum. I´m far from thinking that there is a silver bullet to any problems. Each team is unique and has their own way of collaboration. But there are some practices and tools that can help at list mitigate some of the problems the teams might face with Scrum.

Some ideas from Kanban on how to deal with the problems identified above:
1. Thanks to WIP, swarming, cross-team testing
2. Walk the board
3. Dailies help focus on what to finish each day “stop starting, start finishing”
4. WIP
5. Focus on metrics and continuous improvement

Build your own OKRs. A hands-on workshop to write and measure meaningful OKRs.

Get ready for a captivating learning journey! In this workshop, you’ll learn OKRs anatomy. We will collaboratively create a checklist to guide the creation of impactful OKRs. By exploring the anti-patterns and typical errors in writing OKRs, you'll gain invaluable insights. Additionally, we will share the preconditions of meaningful OKRs and last but not least, you'll have the opportunity to write your very own OKRs and discover effective measurement techniques.
