Born in England in 1972, Mat moved to the U.S. in 1998 as a well paid software engineer. A series of unfortunate tech bubble bursts found him soul searching and pursuing a career in photography. The rise of Facebook and smartphones saw his business and bank accounts crumble to the point where his soul came searching for him and he experienced an ego-death. This experience gave him a unique perspective on the mind. He saw the stories when he felt superior to others and saw how his mind criticized and judged. He got to see his mind become incredibly defensive and justify his actions when things were going badly. With a silent mind, he got to see how nothing changes about the physical world. And when his mind did start talking again, he could clearly see the very primitive mechanisms that caused it to react to the world and create drama. Since then, Mat has been teaching people mindfulness, meditation, and the most important and most powerful - how to practice unconditional love.
