Matthew Carluccio, an award-winning Executive Producer at NBC, has spent close to thirty years dedicated to broadcast journalism and editorial leadership. His career has been shaped through his work on Dateline NBC, TODAY, Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, and NBC News Specials. Known for his focus and steady decision-making, he has played a significant role in producing programs that have informed audiences nationwide and globally.

Matthew has long been recognized for his ability to lead production teams under pressure and to make timely, accurate decisions when covering breaking news. Over the years, his efforts have been honored with multiple Emmy Awards and Edward R. Murrow Awards, acknowledging excellence in writing, breaking news, and overall journalistic achievement. These awards reflect his skill in shaping broadcasts that meet both high editorial standards and the demands of fast-moving news environments.

Carluccio grew up in Toms River, NJ, where his curiosity about the world and the influence of his parents’ professional lives in law and psychology guided him toward a career in journalism. After attending a boarding school in Pennsylvania, he studied Political Science and Psychology at Clark University in Massachusetts. These areas of study helped him understand both human motivation and institutional systems, strengthening his ability to craft narratives for a broad audience. He graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts and moved to New York City to begin his career.

His first professional role was with King World TV as an Assistant to the Executive Producer, where he learned the fundamentals of television production. Matthew then joined NBC as an Associate Producer for Dateline NBC, gaining experience in long-form storytelling, investigative reporting, and general assignments. His work included editing, writing, and reporting both domestically and internationally, with tasks ranging from coverage in the Middle East to major criminal cases in the United States.

In 2005, he joined the TODAY brand, producing broadcasts from diverse locations, including Cuba, Belize, the Vatican, and Antarctica, where he made the first live network news report from the South Pole. He also managed coverage of the Olympic Games from Torino in 2006 through Beijing in 2022. His leadership responsibilities grew over time, as he became Supervising Producer in 2008, Senior Producer in 2011, and Executive Producer of the weekend editions of TODAY in 2014. In 2016, Carluccio helped launch Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, which became a lasting and successful part of the TODAY portfolio. Since 2020, he has also overseen NBC News Specials, where he leads coverage of major political events, elections, inaugurations, and significant international moments.

Outside of work, he has been married for 18 years and is a father of three boys. Living in Philadelphia with his family and two dogs, he balances his demanding career with personal interests, including reading, listening to podcasts, coaching sports, surfing, skiing, and cooking Italian meals, while following the NY Yankees. Matthew Carluccio continues to lead with dedication, professionalism, and a deep commitment to the craft of broadcast journalism.
