Despite that I'm currently an engineer director and IT architect, I consider myself a linux sysadmin and DevOps evangelist. I have over 15 years of experience working with Linux. I also teach cloud solutions and DevOps at ORT University, one of the most important universities here in Uruguay.
From Legacy to Cloud-Native: A Corporation Journey in Platform Engineering
This talk demonstrates how to create a powerful development environment using open source tools that run anywhere - AWS, Azure, GCP, or your own datacenter.
We'll walk through building a complete engineering platform that handles everything from code deployment to hybrid applications, working smoothly across different cloud providers and on-prem environments. You'll see how to combine tools like SCM, ArgoCD, Skupper, Submariner and Kubernetes to create a system that gives you the freedom to run workloads wherever makes sense for your business.
You'll hear about real challenges we faced in multi-cloud environments and how we solved them. Learn how to evaluate open source tools for cloud compatibility, make different tools work together seamlessly, and scale your platform across clouds as your needs change.
Perfect for tech leads, DevOps engineers, and architects who want to build better development platforms while keeping the flexibility to run anywhere.
Good Idea, wrong timing
An example of a good idea for an automation / operation as a service platform but at the wrong time. The idea evolved and spun a cultural change within the organization, but unfortunately it took two years to start using the platform and some stakeholders felt that with this platform we were putting in risk their jobs.
Scaling Kubernetes Application to 1M Users
Scaling Kubernetes workloads to handle a massive user base is a complex task that requires a deep understanding of various strategies and techniques. In this talk, we will explore the technical aspects of scaling Kubernetes applications to accommodate 1 million users.
One of the key approaches we will focus on is leveraging event-driven architectures and KEDA (Kubernetes-based Event Driven Autoscaling). We will dive into the fundamental concepts of event-driven architectures and how they enable applications to respond dynamically to user demands. We will discuss the benefits of decoupling components and utilizing event-driven communication patterns to scale Kubernetes applications seamlessly.
By attending this conference, you will gain insights into the challenges and considerations involved in scaling Kubernetes workloads to accommodate a massive user base. Some technical strategies will be shared, allowing you to apply them directly to your Kubernetes deployments.
Architecting the cloud: Prepare to scale
In this talk, we will dive into the world of architecting on the AWS cloud. Building scalable and reliable applications in the cloud can be a challenging task, but by understanding and avoiding common pitfalls and caveats, you can ensure success.
During this session, we will explore some practices that can guide you toward architecting robust and efficient solutions in AWS. We will discuss the importance of leveraging key services such as Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Amazon API Gateway, and AWS Lambda, and how they can contribute to the overall architecture of your applications.
With the rise of cloud computing, it is crucial to maximize the benefits that AWS offers. By attending this talk, you will gain insights into how to effectively utilize these services, ensuring a secure and scalable architecture for your applications.
This talk is suitable for a seasoned cloud architect or for those just starting the journey in cloud-native applications.
Join us in the discussion on architecting in AWS, where we will share real-world examples, best practices, and lessons learned. Get ready to unlock the full potential of AWS and revolutionize your cloud architecture strategy!
