Manuel Martins is a software engineer and architect at ECMWF, working at the intersection of platform engineering, cloud-native infrastructure, and scientific computing. He designs and builds platforms and services that help scientists and developers focus on their work rather than the complexity of the underlying infrastructure.

His work spans Kubernetes, software architecture, APIs, automation, and developer platforms, with a focus on turning complex technical requirements into reliable, reusable services. At ECMWF, he has helped build and evolve platforms used across the organisation, including ECMWF Sites, which now hosts over 600 websites, and other services that support scientific workflows and collaboration.

With over 15 years of experience across the public and private sectors, Manuel holds a PhD in Computational Algebra and has a background in both mathematical software and large-scale scientific systems. He is interested in the engineering challenges of building platforms that are practical to operate, easy to use, and capable of supporting evolving needs.
