Manuel Martins is a Portuguese computer scientist specialising in computational algebra. He earned his Ph.D. from Universidade Aberta in 2019, where he has contributed to the field through his work on the Francy framework, enhancing interactive capabilities within the GAP system. His research interests encompass discrete mathematics and the development of computational tools to facilitate mathematical computations and visualisations.

His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, majoring in Industrial Informatics, from Escola Superior de Tecnologia of the Instituto Politecnico do Cavado e do Ave, completed in 2008.

He currently works at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) as a Senior Web Analyst on the Platform Engineering team of the Computing Department. He specialises in software design and architecture, with over 15 years of experience spanning both the public and private sectors.
