Megan Taylor is a Senior Engineering Technician at Illinois American Water. She began her career in the utility industry in 2015 with a focus on buried gas and electric systems. In 2018, she joined Illinois American Water’s Engineering group. She is a recognized water industry leader with experience in project planning, water resource management, water system acquisitions, program development, and research study design and execution.

Highlights of her contributions at Illinois American Water include developing the Company’s lead service line replacement program as well as developing and overseeing corrosion control and change in source water studies. While Megan contributes to many other efforts within the engineering team, these two programs highlight her commitment to customer satisfaction and water quality. In fact, as a result of her leadership on the Glen Carbon Source Change Study, Megan was recognized nationally by American Water with a Spotlight Award for Excellence and Innovation in Research and Development. In addition, the successful completion of the study resulted in Illinois American Water serving approximately 6,000 additional sale for resale customers. The study was deemed the approved testing procedure for Illinois American Water by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

In addition to her work at Illinois American Water, Megan is also the Chairperson of the Illinois Section AWWA’s Leadership in Total Water committee. She enjoys collaborating with her colleagues and other water industry experts. She hopes to inspire other young professionals, including young female professionals, to make meaningful contributions for quality water service today and for future generations.

Change in Sources- Corrosion Control Studies

Illinois American Water's Engineering team designs and executes a source change study to monitor the effects of diverse water quality parameters on a systems metallic plumbing utilizing Flow Through (pipe loop) and Batch testing methodologies. This submission will provide an overview of an 18 month long journey and its successful completion.
