My name is Melia Brown, and I am currently an educational leadership doctoral student at The Pennsylvania State University. I received my BA in Biology (2019) and MAT (2020) from Xavier University of Louisiana. Previously, I have taught high school chemistry and been lead chemistry teacher. In addition to teaching, I have worked to develop and write chemistry curriculum at my high school. Currently, I work with Dr. Deborah Schussler as a graduate research assistant. Our research focuses on social emotional learning (SEL) and mindfulness school-based programs and their implementation. My research interests also include the influence of education policy on urban and rural districts. Leisurely, I enjoy creative writing, calligraphy, and spending quality time with friends and family.
