Michael Larsen is a software testing consultant with TESTHEAD. He is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA. Over the past three decades, he has been involved in software testing for a range of products and industries, including network routers & switches, virtual machines, capacitance touch devices, video games, client/server applications, distributed databases & web applications.
Michael is the co-author of "Software Testing Strategies" (Packt Publishing, 2023) and the producer and co-host of the NuSummit ThoughtHive Podcast. Accessibility isn't simply a feature list or a checkbox to ensure compliance. More specifically, it isn't the responsibility of just one person or team.
The best software is built when *everyone* has a seat at the table.
As AI accelerates development and teams are asked to deliver software faster than ever, Accessibility is often treated as something to revisit at the end of a project—if there's time. Unfortunately, that's exactly when it becomes the most expensive, the most frustrating, and the least effective.
This session explores how developers, testers, designers, product managers, and business stakeholders can work together to make accessibility an integral part of the software development lifecycle from day one. Rather than viewing accessibility as a specialized discipline, we'll look at it as a natural extension of software quality and something that can benefit everyone.
With practical demonstrations, real-world examples, common pitfalls, and freely available tools, we will focus on ways to identify accessibility issues early, build inclusive habits into everyday workflows, and create products that are easier for everyone to use.
