Actions
As a co-founder of Astral Forest, I help ambitious BI leaders to get 100% control over the solutions they manage through technical expertise and process know-how advisory. With over 12 years of experience in BI/Data Strategy and Development, I have delivered end-to-end projects for various organizations, using Azure Databricks, SQL, and Big Data tools. I have also created BI roadmaps, designed optimal data architectures, and facilitated digital transformation by implementing agile/right BI development methods.
In addition to running Astral Forest, I am also a guest lecturer at Warsaw University of Technology, where I share my knowledge and insights on BI/Data Change Management with students and professionals. I have a strong background in quantitative methods in economics and information systems.

Power BI Compass: Navigating between PBI Governance and Data Transformation
In this story I'll share with you have to overcome reporting chaos and take control of the data through improved governance of Power BI - we'll use PBI REST API data to create a (meta)data warehouse and Power BI Reporting about Power BI. I invite you to join me on the journey of Power BI and Data transformation.
As in any story, there's no solution without a problem. At first glance, everything seemed in place: reports, measures, dimensions, users... even fancy AI! But beneath it all lurked a storm of issues the company faced: repetitive sales reports, lack of clear visibility on key metrics, chaos from the reporting layer to the data acquisition layer. The real challenge: how can you manage thousands of reports and the corresponding labirynth of the data layers if you don't know how they are used and by whom?
Here's where the real action begins! During this session, I'll present the ready-made solution to these challenges, along with the reflections and steps that led to success. I'll discuss not only the technical aspects of BI transformation, but also delve into the often overlooked human dimension: leadership and change management.
I'll show how measuring PBI consumption is key when it comes to rethinking your entire data strategy and steering the BI ship away from dire straits. I'll be your guide on a real data adventure, sharing the story that starts with messy Power BI (thousands of reports, AAS S9v2 Instances), uses APIs to seamlessly navigate among thousands of users, helps you sort out the needed map to the properly setup Lakehouse, and ends in the safe haven of the governed Power BI.
Finally, I will also share with you a real pirate map to the treasure trove of ROI calculations in the Power BI world.
Target audience: Power BI/Data navigators and BI ship captains: The session is a case study from a 2-year adventure. In it you will find anti-patterns occurring in the (Power) BI world and an experience-based way to solve them. Although the case uses a complex technical solution, I focus more on the approaches and delivered results than a deep technical dive. You won't find fancy DAX or Visual Building in my session: Adoption, Governance, User's Analytics and Change Management are the keywords.
Session Level: 400 - the case presented is advanced, you should have an understanding of how BI / CoE departments work, the differences between self-service and centrally produced data products, but also Power BI administration, governance, AAS, datawarehousing to get the most out of my session.
Notes:
The goal of my presentation is to leave participants with a very simple yet incredibly important takeaway: if you don't measure it, you can't manage it. My presentation will be a ready-made script showing how to focus on the latter—management.
Power BI Monitoring: From PBI REST API through DWH and back again to PBI
In this story I'll share with you the way to overcome reporting chaos and take control of the data through improved governance of Power BI - we'll use PBI REST API data to create a (meta)data warehouse and Power BI Reporting about Power BI. I invite you to join me on the journey of Power BI Monitoring Governance Cockpit.
Although in Power BI Service you have access to some key metrics through the usage statistics, they are somehow... clumsy - limited to one workspace, to the last 30 days, missing the key information - they are simple not enough to drive your Power BI way
During this session, I'll present the ready-made solution to the governance challenges such as:
- identifying who uses the most widely used reports
- what PBI reports are used by the CEO
- what's the most widely used data source for all the semantic models
- who has the access to the reports?
- to which reports does the CEO have access to?
- how much can you save on PBI licensing?
- how can you proactively track pro-actively the ever-changing PBI Tenant settings?
- how are your RLS configured?
ll discuss not only these aspects from the governance perspective. but also I'll delve into the full data warehouse (fact tables, dimensions) made to drive you fast and sound through PBI adventure.
I'll show you the overall setup of: PBI REST API and Graph APHI, ADF, Data warehouse (bronze, silver, gold schemas) together with the data model and of course Power BI Analytical Cockpit to see all of this.
No more unused reports or ungoverned PBI resources :)
The session is for everyone, however it is the most interesting for the people interested in Power BI Governance, Administration and Adoption.
What will you learn from it? How to build a Power BI report about your Power BI implementation in a robust, proper and scalable way.
Target audience: Power BI/Data navigators and BI ship captains:
Session Level: 400 - the case presented is advanced. It's about the e2e solution for all PBI governance related issues :)
Notes:
The goal of my presentation is to leave participants with a very simple yet incredibly important takeaway: you can have excellent PBI Governance and you know how to build it.
Unleashing the Power of Automated Performance Tracking for Power BI Reports
Imagine having a comprehensive, automated system to monitor the performance of your Power BI reports across your entire tenancy. While the Power BI Performance Analyzer is an invaluable tool for optimizing reports in Power BI Desktop, it falls short for those looking to maintain performance standards on a broader scale. What if you could regularly track rendering times and identify performance issues across thousands of report pages?
In this session, we’ll dive into:
- Identifying the most critical and frequently used Power BI reports in your organization.
- Utilizing Selenium to automate the retrieval of performance data from Power BI Service,
- Briefly covering Power BI Service Structure
Join me if you want to
- Learn more about Administration, Governance, and Power BI Adoption.
- Discover practical solutions for automating performance data collection for Power BI Service reports.
- Gain insights into the technical workings of Power BI Service and how to leverage Selenium scripts for data acquisition and analysis.
This session is tailored for those who are invested in maintaining high-performance standards for their Power BI reports, particularly administrators and governance professionals. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of the problem, the motivation behind solving it, and the technical skills needed to implement automated performance tracking in your organization.
target audience: Power BI Senior Developers, Administrator. Power BI Practice Leaders, BI Managers and Directors
