I started my DBA journey 3.5 years ago. I had never worked in IT before. After leaving school with only GCSE’s, I started my working life as a baggage handler before moving into office based operational roles. It was the birth of my first daughter that led me to email someone in the DBA team at my company asking them what computer language would be good to learn so I could start learning now to be able to help my kids with their coding homework in the years to come. This in turn led to me applying for a Junior DBA role in the DBA team and landing the job. Now, a few years on, I want to help others who may be totally new to the world of being a DBA, hoping to help them on their journey from what it’s like to be a DBA, where the best resources can be found, things that can make your job easier and much more with the aim of making what can sometimes be daunting into something they fall in love with.
