Professor Mimi Tang is a Paediatric Immunologist and Allergist at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Director of Allergy Translation and Group Leader of Allergy Immunology at MCRI, and Professorial Fellow in Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne.

She leads a research program focused on immune mechanisms, clinical trials to induce long-term allergy remission, and digital tools to support families living with food allergy. Her landmark PPOIT studies were the first to demonstrate sustained remission of peanut allergy, redefining expectations around food immunotherapy outcomes and opening the door to new treatment approaches.

She collaborates on prevention trials evaluating prenatal and postnatal interventions, and on landmark longitudinal studies such as the Barwon Infant Study, HealthNuts, EarlyNuts, and SchoolNuts. She is a chief investigator on the NHMRC Centre for Food and Allergy Research (CFAR)—a national collaboration focused on improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of food allergy.

She has published over 470 peer-reviewed papers and was named among the top 1% of highly cited researchers in Immunology by Web of Science in 2023.

Professor Tang has played a key role in shaping allergy policy in Australia, contributing to national anaphylaxis guidelines, infant feeding and allergy prevention advice, and school-based management frameworks. Her leadership continues to influence policy, research translation, and clinician education both nationally and internationally.
