Mounir is the CEO & Co-founder Portia AI, building developer tools to make complex multi-agent tasks predictable, auditable and secure. Portia has raised £4.4m from General Catalyst, First Minute Capital and Stem AI.
Prior to Portia his career spans prominent roles at major tech companies, including Google, Amazon and Stripe as well as entrepreneurial ventures.
Known for his expertise in product management, innovation in financial technology and leadership in emerging tech like AI, Mounir has led Stripe's bank-as-a-service product area in EMEA, launched and grew Google Pay to 30 markets in Europe, served on Google Payments' UK board and advised closely with the UK's Open Banking implementation entity and the European Payment Council. He built and grew Amazon's retail deals business which today includes some of their largest events like Black Friday and Prime Day.
Mounir holds a Computer engineering degree with high distinction from the American University of Beirut and an MBA from the London Business School.
From PM at Stripe to Building an AI startup, a recent founder's journey
I spent a bunch of time building products in Big Tech, most recently at Stripe but before that at Google and Amazon. In this short talk I am sharing the highs and lows of building a business in AI and how that differs from building products in Big Tech.
