The Munich Postdoc Network is an initiative from the Postdoc Associations, Postdoc Coordinators and Points of Contact for Postdocs at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BAdW), the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt), Helmholtz Munich, the Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences, the LMU Faculty of Biology, the LMU Biomedical Center Munich, the Max Planck Institute (MPI) of Biochemistry, the MPI for Biological Intelligence, the MPI for Plasma Physics, the MPI of Psychiatry, the University of the Bundeswehr Munich (Uni BW) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
We aim to connect postdoctoral researchers working in the Munich area and facilitate communication among them. Moreover, we envision a wide collaborative organisation to identify areas of need and develop solutions to improve the postdoc experience.

Munich Postdoc Day 2025 - Exploring Career Opportunities and the Transition Beyond the Postdoc Phase
The Munich Postdoc Day is a biannual event that provides postdocs with the opportunity to meet and connect with other postdocs in Munich, as well as interact with fantastic speakers and guests, and discuss topics of interest to our postdoc community.
For the 2025 Munich Postdoc Day „Exploring Career Opportunities and the Transition Beyond the Postdoc Phase”, we invite all postdocs in the Munich area to join our in-person event on September 17th at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BAdW) in Munich.
The event aims to create an interactive and reflective space where participants can:
- Gain awareness of their unique skills and career interests.
- Explore diverse career paths both inside and outside academia.
- Engage with experts and peers to understand the requirements and realities of different career options.
- Develop a clearer vision of their future career goals and the steps needed to achieve them.
We have a wonderful group of speakers who will present their views and experiences with career mentoring and transition beyond the postdoc phase. Join us and get inspired!
Munich Postdoc Night
The first Munich Postdoc Night will take place on the eve of the Postdoc Appreciation Week. This event will provide a space to expand your professional network by connecting with fellow postdocs from diverse scientific backgrounds in a casual after-work setting.
During the Munich Postdoc Night, you will have the chance to share your research and gain new insights through scientific exchange, enriching your knowledge and perspective. Engaging in discussions will help you find potential collaborators for interdisciplinary projects, leveraging collective expertise to drive innovative research. Most importantly, you'll become part of a supportive and dynamic postdoc community in Munich, fostering social interactions, idea exchange, and mutual support in a vibrant academic environment across institutions.
Join the exciting keynote lecture by Kim Ludwig-Petsch, Curiosity gGmbH, on science communication, titled "Enhancing Science Communication: The Power of Hands-On Interaction". Participate in the poster session and science slam. Engage with key actors in Munich, shaping and leading outreach activities and collaboration projects across institutions. These networks will present their offers for postdocs and how science can connect a city like Munich.
