Munindar P. Singh is a SAS Institute Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science at NC State University. Singh’s research focuses on the science and engineering of trustworthy AI, with an emphasis on multiagent systems and sociotechnical systems. Singh specializes in ways to model, verify, and program multiagent systems based on abstractions that promote agent autonomy and flexible interactions between agents. He introduced information protocols and is a leading contributor to formal modeling and computing with deontic norms, which elegantly capture interaction meaning to capture business agreements as well as semantic guardrails for AI.

Singh is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a foreign member (honoris causa) of Academia Europaea. Singh has served as editor-in-chief of ACM Transactions on Internet Technology and IEEE Internet Computing and as general co-chair for conferences such as the International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS).
