Always having liked stories, it seemed logical to start presenting them too. I'm at the start of my speaker journey, but look forward to the adventures along the way.
My passion lies in programming and automation. This naturally led me to a job in IT Consultancy where I was able to work on varying projects and see different problems and obstacles to solve. I currently work for a platform team that uses Kubernetes and Azure services to help customers more easily deploy and run in the cloud.

Writing Resilient Code by Playing Minecraft
What do High Availability concepts such as Auto Scaling, Leader Election, and Fault Tolerance have to do with playing Minecraft? Find out by following along in a story about programming shenanigans in modded Minecraft. I'll take you on my journey of finding the ComputerCraft mod and how that led me to applying concepts from Kubernetes and fault tolerant applications in Minecraft.
The session will cover a range of topics that are closely aligned to Cloud Native concepts (microservices, fault tolerance, scaling, event driven architectures, etc). Previous experience with these topic isn't required, but will help in following along. At the end of this talk you will have learned the pitfalls of implementing these concepts, and have gotten inspired to learn similar concepts in other unconventional ways.
This is an intermediate level session. The session will broadly cover:
* What's this about programming in Minecraft?
* Exploring the use case of a 'Cloud Native' application in Minecraft
* Examples and pitfalls of Cloud Native concepts
* Finding similarities with real life applications
* Key takeaways
