Dr. Harrison received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHC) College of Medicine in 1997. He completed a combined Internal Medicine and Psychiatry residency at Duke University and later participated in a research fellowship at the Center for Spirituality, Theology, and Health.

In addition to his professional work, Myleme Nyerere Ojinga Harrison co-authored an e-book titled "A Letter From Tamar" with his wife, which provides education on the dangers of sexual abuse and emphasizes the importance of awareness and early intervention for families.
