Mr.Wasswa Nelson is the Founder and Executive Director of Sodzo Foundation, a Uganda nonfor-profit at the fore front of pushing the human race forward using modern technologies, policies, digital literacy and open education. In March 2020, Nelson was selected by the Shuttleworth Foundation to become a fellow. He joined a few bold leaders at the fore front of social change that are transforming their communities and nations with shared approaches to economic and social development putting open principles and strategies at the core of their innovations. In 2020, he was again selected to become a Green Ambassador For the Climate in Africa by the Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO). For his innovative efforts towards creating resilient and social inclusive community driven innovations. He is also a previous member of the AidData Summer Fellowship 2014, a funded fellowship program by the USAID, to improve the capacity of governments and civil society governments and civil societies of low and middle income countries to use geospatial data and analysis for program planning, advocacy and research. Nelson is a previous research associate of the Makerere University Artificial Intelligence Lab and a former SharePoint Business Analyst and Developer at Application Consulting Training Solutions in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Makerere University in 2015 and he specialized in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He is passionate about developing practical innovative technology tools for the most demanding challenges of our generation with reliance on science and evidence based approaches.
