Stop shooting yourself in the foot: Quick wins to improve your app’s performance

Your React app is slow, and, yes, it’s kind of your fault. But don’t worry—you didn’t sabotage it all at once. You were just a frog in a slowly heating tub. A frog with a tiny keyboard, hacking away at its React app as performance issues crept in… along with water that kept shorting out the keys on the keyboard and—Wait, no, something definitely went wrong with that metaphor there.

Anyhow, the good news is you’re not alone. Unfortunately, React is riddled with common performance pitfalls that developers unknowingly create. From over-rendering components to sneaky state updates that wreak havoc—these issues are easy to overlook if you don’t know what to look for.

In this session, you’ll learn how to spot these problems with the right tools and methodologies, while adopting a performance-first mindset with effective refactoring strategies. Whether you’re an experienced developer or just getting started with React, you’ll walk away with practical techniques to stop sabotaging your app’s performance—and maybe even your sanity.
