Piraeus Datastore - persistent volumes for Kubernetes
Piraeus Datastore is an open-source project that brings LINSTOR/DRBD to Kubernetes. It is a full-fledged software-defined storage solution that delivers persistent storage volumes to Kubernetes.
It targets I/O-demanding applications like databases and provides RWO and ROX access modes to Kubernetes. It is well suited for hyper-converged deployments as it has a low memory and CPU footprint on the worker nodes. However, it is also compatible with disaggregated compute and storage nodes.
It makes many storage functions of the Linux I/O stack available to the Kubernetes workload, like synchronous and asynchronous storage replication, thin-provisioning, snapshots, snapshot-delta shipping (also scheduled) for backup and DR purposes, data encryption at rest, data encryption in transit, and deduplication. It supports storage networking within the container network or the host network.
It comes with a CSI driver, an Operator, helm charts, a kubectl plugin, and an HA controller.
