Praveen Kumar Manchikoni Surendra is an R&D Engineering Staff Engineer with over 12 years of experience building high-performance, production-grade software systems across the semiconductor, electronic design automation (EDA), gaming, industrial automation, and automotive embedded systems domains. He has contributed to globally recognized technology organizations, including Synopsys, IBM Research, Siemens, Scientific Games, and Wipro Technologies, delivering software used at a worldwide scale.
At Synopsys, Praveen is part of the team developing PrimeTime, the industry-leading Static Timing Analysis (STA) tool used in the design of virtually every modern semiconductor chip by companies such as Google, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Tesla, Intel, and AMD. His work focuses on advanced timing analysis for cutting-edge technology nodes (5nm, 3nm, and beyond), performance optimization, multi-scenario analysis, and hyperscale chip verification. He designed and implemented Simultaneous Multi-Voltage Analysis (SMVA) domain crossing, significantly reducing runtime while improving timing accuracy, and contributed to advanced STA capabilities, including SMC, DVFS, CRPR, hyperscale computing, and 3DIC. Additionally, he explored AI and machine learning applications in EDA.
Previously, at IBM Research, Praveen led the development of an advanced EDA framework for IBM Z series mainframe processors, building core simulation, constraint-solving, and verification infrastructure. He also developed Fusion Lite, an AI-powered tool leveraging machine learning, NLP, and generative AI to generate C++ code for chip verification autonomously.
At Siemens Technologies, he contributed to large-scale SCADA Line Coordination Systems, enabling real-time plant automation and visibility. Earlier, at Scientific Games, he developed electronic casino gaming machines for the Bally brand, including award-recognized and top-selling titles. He began his career at Wipro Technologies, working on embedded infotainment systems for Mazda vehicles released globally.
Praveen holds an M.S. in Information Systems and a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, with expertise spanning C++, Python, AI/ML, system design, embedded systems, and large-scale software engineering.
