Priyank Niravkumar Vekaria is a licensed professional engineer with over nine years of experience designing and executing resilient HVAC systems for mission-critical and commercial facilities. He currently serves as a mechanical field engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Columbus, Ohio, where he acts as the engineering point of contact for regional leased and owned data centers, supporting operational break-fix issues, leading root cause analyses, and designing capacity retrofit projects for next-generation facilities.
At AWS, Priyank has delivered several high-impact engineering solutions across the AMER data center fleet. He led a feasibility study that unblocked 17 MW of IT capacity through a mechanical load transfer strategy, without requiring cooling capacity upgrades. He also piloted the "Inside Air Reference" project, a first-of-its-kind solution to stabilize differential pressure fluctuations, which was subsequently adopted for future data centers. Other initiatives include the "AHU Capacity Reclaim" program, targeting 124 MW of additional IT capacity fleet-wide, a fleet-wide AHU corrosion remediation affecting 68% of units from one manufacturer, and standardized AHU sequencing that saved 2 million gallons of water in the Columbus region.
Prior to AWS, Priyank spent four years as a mechanical engineer at Interface Engineering in San Francisco, where he designed HVAC systems for a wide range of commercial and institutional projects, including university dining facilities, medical office buildings, K-12 schools, VRF-based performing arts venues, and large residential communities, carrying projects from conceptual design through construction administration.
Priyank holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Gujarat Technological University. He is a licensed professional engineer in the State of California and a LEED Green Associate.
