Qing entered the HPC field through file systems research at Carnegie Mellon University. He joined Los Alamos in 2021, where he now works on making storage faster to help scientists get answers from data sooner. He’s currently digging into tools from the Apache analytics ecosystem—like Arrow and Parquet—to rethink how the lab handles big data on future supercomputers and stays in step with broader tech trends like composable databases and compute-near-data.
