Ravi Gadhia is a technologist who began his career as a chip designer and found his way to customer facing roles in the software industry. A graduate of Stanford and Columbia, he has been involved with various start-ups during his 25 year career in tech. His work has taken him to diverse geographies spanning Silicon Valley, the Asia-Pacific region, and now Silicon Beach. His primary areas of expertise are in software development & collaboration tools. Ravi is currently a Senior Solutions Engineer at GitHub. When he's not working, he enjoys continuously training for the next LA marathon and spending time with his two boys.
A World Without Programmers?
GitHub and the software industry at large envision a future where developers may be human or machine. This talk will focus on a problem described as a holy grail of AI: program synthesis, or automated generation of code from a high-level spec. We will examine the history, present basic concepts & challenges, review real-world examples, and demo a program synthesis framework in action. In closing, we will outline a vision & timeline for the evolution of software development, for both humans and machines.
