Rickquel “Rikki” Tripp, MD MPH CDR USN FAEMS is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, EMS faculty, and EMS Medical Director of 4 different EMS agencies: Penn Hills, Lower Burrell, SouthEast Regional, and Foxwall and Assistant Medical Director for City of Pittsburgh EMS. She has chaired the Networking Committee of the Physician Inclusion Council of Pitt and UPMC (PICUP) since 2017 and now serves as the first Vice Chair of Belonging, Excellence, & Engagement (BEE) of UPMC Graduate Medical Education (GME) since 2020 and first Vice Chair Engagement & Social Impact (ESI) of Department of Emergency Medicine since 2021. She is a nationally recognized expert in addressing provider implicit bias, creating health equity, and building a diverse workforce. She is a dynamic speaker and leader in addition to receiving many awards for her diversity, equity, and inclusion work such as UPMC Award for Commitment and Excellence in Service (ACES) in 2019, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Social Justice Educator Award in 2023, Onyx Woman Leadership Award in 2023, YWCA Bridge Builder Award in 2023, Gateway Medical Society Healthcare Policy & Advocacy Champion Award in 2024, Iota Phi Foundation Exemplary Service Award for Medicine in 2024, and Dr. Larry E. Davis Excellence in Leadership Award in 2025. As an EMS Medical Director, Dr. Tripp has provided subject matter to numerous EMS agencies and organizations regarding health disparities and equity, provider implicit bias and strategies to mitigate bias affecting medical care, and OB/GYN emergencies. She holds MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and MPH from Harvard School of Public Health along with being a Commander in the Navy Reserves. Lastly, she works as a sideline doctor for the NFL and Pittsburgh Steelers.
