DevOps Malayalam Meetup 2025, Trivandrum
The event was conducted in collaboration of Devops Malayalam x Grafana & Friends Kochi Communities in Trivandrum. The event consisted of 2 sessions - the event featured Rahul Raj V V, a seasoned DevOps and Cloud Architect, who delivered an insightful session on transitioning from DevOps Engineer to MLOps Engineer. Rima Sidique, DevOps Engineer at Stackgenie, also led an engaging session on DIY DNS setup for Linux.
My talk was on the topic - "DIY DNS: From localhost to custom domains in Linux"
This session was designed as a beginner-friendly introduction to the world of DNS, breaking down core concepts to help attendees understand how domain names resolve behind the scenes.
I started by explaining the fundamentals of DNS—what it is, how it works, and why it's a critical part of the internet. The session included a live demo showcasing how to set up a custom DNS server in a Linux environment using BIND9, allowing participants to see how local domain resolution can be configured from scratch.
The goal of this talk was to make networking less intimidating and more approachable for students and early-career professionals. It successfully sparked curiosity and encouraged attendees to try building their own DNS setups in a safe, local environment.
