Student Teams: A Panel Discussion About Creating Groups that Work

Classes use groupwork with many goals. However, research suggests that some students benefit more than others from collaborative learning, and that larger structures of power and privilege are often recreated in student teams. In this session, the presenters will begin by describing research with implications for how teams are created. The rest of the session will be a group discussion of logistical, ethical, and legal challenges related to the formation of teams.
