Roman P. de Jesus is a Chancellor’s Office Climate Fellow and Chair of Earth Sciences at Fullerton College. He is committed to making climate action and sustainability an opportunity for everyone. As Climate Fellow, Dr. de Jesus is coordinating curriculum efforts enabling faculty across academic disciplines to empower students in climate action and sustainability. At Fullerton College He is the faculty co-chair of the campus Sustainability Committee and has coordinated events across campus including the annual Earth Day Symposium, faculty professional development workshops, and Environmental Scholars webinars.
With more than 15 years in higher education — the last 10 at Fullerton College — he teaches oceanography, Earth Science lecture, lab, and field courses, and co-teaches Geology and Biology of the Channel Islands. Through these courses, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities, he has provided numerous students authentic experiences in the geosciences. He holds a bachelors in Biochemistry/Chemistry from UC San Diego and a PhD from Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
