Roman Sachse started programming by accident, shortly after founding his first company, when he realised how much fun it was to build the things he was working on himself. Twenty-five years later he still thinks the hard part of software is people and communication, which is why he studied Cognitive Science before Computer Science.

At Hellmann Worldwide Logistics he was the tech lead of the move from one big transport management system to autonomous product teams. Today he is VP of Digital Product Excellence for the road division and works on the system those teams live in: how a 150-year-old logistics company learns to create digital value, and what changes now that AI makes building cheap. He also builds Hellmann's AI enablement programme.

Do-It-Yourself: Event-Sourcing and CQRS

So you heard so much stuff about Event-Sourcing and CQRS. Now you want to know what all the hype is about but you don’t know where to start. Everything sounds quite complicated and there are many new concepts to learn. Do you need to use one of the available frameworks? Do you really need solutions for problems that you might never encounter? Wouldn’t it be great if you could experience those problems first-hand and to be able to tailor solutions to your application’s specific needs?
In this session, I want to take you on a journey that will eventually enable you to build your own CQRS and Event-Sourced system. Together we will define the requirements and I am going to give you ideas and and approaches to fulfill those requirements. The language in use will be F# but the concepts should transfer to other languages easily.
