Ron is originally from Ottawa, where his family always included dogs, specifically beagles. His father was a field trial judge and CKC representative for Ontario and Quebec. Ron volunteered at field trials and dog shows throughout the area.
He got into equines in his 30s, training and riding Arabian endurance horses.
After moving to BC he volunteered and eventually worked at a heritage town museum in the livestock department. One of his primary responsibilities was caring for and driving teams of Clydesdales, requiring him to obtain his level 2 teamsters certification from Olds College.
He and his wife have rescued numerous animals and currently raise heritage Irish Dexter cattle.
