Elevating SQL Server Performance with Query Store Hints
Embark on a journey through SQL Server 2022, exploring the Query Store Hints, a feature designed to optimize your database’s performance and ensure a smooth flight through your data.
I will kick off this session by diving into the fundamentals of hints in SQL Server, exploring how they provide specific instructions to the query optimizer to select the most efficient execution plan.
We will delve into the architecture of Query Store and its interaction with Query Store Hints, providing a clear map of the feature’s functionality.
The session will also highlight the benefits of using Query Store Hints and important considerations and best practices.
The journey will culminate in a live demonstration showcasing how to implement Query Store Hints in SQL Server 2022. Attendees will witness the process from start to finish, gaining practical skills and knowledge to apply this feature confidently in their own environments.
By the end of this session, attendees will leave with a comprehensive understanding of Query Store Hints and be equipped to implement this feature in their SQL Server 2022 environments.
Transforming Data Science and PowerBI with Fabric Semantic Link
This session is for Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and PowerBI Developers who want to fully use Semantic Link in their projects.
We'll delve into how Semantic Link is revolutionizing data analysis and management, offering valuable insights for different roles. You'll learn about the functionalities of Semantic Link, including its Data Frame and Spark-based features, and how to apply these tools in real-world scenarios.
We'll also cover advanced techniques such as relationship analysis and dependency management, showcasing how Semantic Link can elevate your data projects. Whether you're aiming to enhance data quality, streamline workflows, or explore new data strategies, this session will provide you with the knowledge and skills to effectively leverage Semantic Link.
Join me to unlock the full potential of your data with Semantic Link in Microsoft Fabric.
Mastering Data Pipelines: Hands-On with Fabric Data Factory
In this session, I'll walk you through the basics of building data pipelines from scratch using Fabric Data Factory. We'll start by covering fundamental data pipeline concepts to build a solid foundation for the practical work ahead. Then, we'll move into a hands-on segment where I'll guide you step-by-step to create a fully functional Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipeline.
I'll demonstrate how to use the features and capabilities of Fabric Data Factory, making ETL implementation accessible even if you're new to building data pipelines. By the end of this session, you'll have the knowledge and skills to design, build, and deploy your first ETL pipeline successfully.
We'll kick things off by showing you how to use the new Dataflows Gen2 to extract data from an Azure SQL database. You'll learn how to transform this data using the power query engine in Dataflows Gen2 and load the results into a Lakehouse.
Next, we'll focus on using Data Pipelines to orchestrate various activities. We'll start with making an API call that returns data in JSON format, then transform it using Spark Notebooks, and finally add some extra steps to build a robust pipeline, ensuring everything is ready in the Lakehouse.
This session offers a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring you leave with a solid understanding of data pipeline construction and the confidence to start your own projects using Fabric Data Factory.
Keep the Integrity of your Database with Azure SQL Ledger
Data integrity is a huge concern for every business, especially when it comes to protecting your company's most valuable information.
In this session, I will share what Azure SQL Ledger is, why it came into existence, and what it is used for. I will show how we can configure the ledger in the tables of a database, how the structure based on a blockchain works, and how we can do data integrity checking.
I want to show people what the expected behavior of each transaction is and how it is stored to ensure that we don't lose track of all the modifications.
After the explanation and the demo, I will talk a little bit about what implications this implementation has on performance and what next steps are being worked on to improve this technology.
