Resilient by Design
Failure is always an option. In the cloud, a zone can go offline, a dependency can slow down, or a deployment can introduce a problem. Resilience starts with deciding which user journeys must continue, how much disruption the business can accept, and how the workload should recover.
This session follows those decisions from business requirements into architecture, code, deployment, and operations. Practical Azure examples connect availability zones, multi-region design, replication, resilient software patterns, observability, and recovery testing into a single strategy.
You’ll learn how to:
- Define critical flows, SLOs, error budgets, and RTO/RPO targets.
- Contain failures through redundancy, dependency isolation, and graceful degradation.
- Apply timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, asynchronous messaging, and safe deployment practices.
- Test recovery using load tests, chaos experiments, game days, and disaster recovery drills.
After the session, you can use the same questions and techniques to review an Azure workload, find where failures can spread, and prioritize changes that reduce downtime and data loss. The approach works for systems still being designed and workloads already running in production.
