The DBA Who Watched Planes: A Real World AI + PostgreSQL Project

Did you know that almost every plane in the sky today has a transponder that sends out information about the flight? Further, did you know that this information is publicly accessible? You can, if you want, "listen" to airplanes as they fly overhead.

In this session, not only will you learn how to set up your own monitoring of airplanes, but you'll learn how a publicly accessible web page was built, using a Large Language Model (LLM) to capture this information, transmit it to Azure, store it in a PostgreSQL database, and then feed it to you for live updates. This fun, but informative, session demonstrates how to turn your work into a hobby, or your hobby into work. Either way, we'll have some fun with radios, data, and AI. We'll even get some learning done along the way.
