Helping Fathers Heal: Trauma-informed care for organizations

Professionals and individuals who work with fathers are beginning to recognize the importance of adopting a trauma-informed approach to their work. This approach, also known as TIC, is part of a larger framework called values-based services (VBS). When an organization integrates VBS into its core approach, it leads to improved outcomes for the fathers they serve. However, TIC is not always fully recognized or understood by organizations, which can result in missed opportunities to improve experiences for fathers, employees and the organization as a whole.

In this session, we will discuss how to define values-based services, what trauma-informed care means from a whole-organizational approach, and how organizations commonly miss out on being trauma-informed for the fathers they serve. We will also explore specific ways in which you, as a provider, can use this information to help your organization become more trauma-informed for the fathers you work with.
