Building a house as an MVP

Years ago I had a startup, and we failed miserably at building an MVP. Then I got a job at an internal startup, and guess what – the MVP failed ☹

The biggest issue was us not understanding the MVP concept, and it turns out I was not alone.

As life has a funny way of working out, my wife and I got an old house that was pretty much just four walls with nothing inside, and we started building our dream product... erm... house. We were like a proper startup – not enough money to get a contractor that would finish the whole thing, no idea what we were doing, and no idea what our „clients“ (our twins, and ourselves) want, and need. So we went with some cheap contractors, some really expensive ones, some good enough, we've traded stuff that we don't need for work, we've compensated someone else’s work with our work, we did some things top notch, and we've done some things to be temporary on purpose, because we needed a „hot patch“, until we figure out what we really want, what we really need, and what can we realistically afford. 😊

This talk is about explaining something abstract as an MVP by comparing it to something everyone can relate - brick and mortar.
