Auditing your Power BI Platform: A Practical Route from Red to Green

Power BI platforms rarely fail overnight… they drift. In this session, I share the recurring patterns I see when auditing Power BI and Fabric platforms for large organisations, across People, Process, and Technology. You’ll learn where platforms most commonly go wrong, why issues emerge organically, and the early warning signs to watch for. Expect an interactive session (including Power BI Audit Bingo!) as we spot red flags and take back control before they become business‑critical.

You'll learn how I use my 3x3 Governance & Adoption Framework, developed and refined through repeated real-world platform audits, along with the reporting principles I use to stabilise and scale modern data platforms.

I'll share how to take control by systematically auditing your Fabric environment end-to-end using a repeatable, field-tested methodology and defining a clear, prioritised route forward.
Using a structured framework spanning People, Process, and Technology, we will work through a practical audit of a Fabric platform, including:
• Roles, skills, and operating models across BI, data engineering, including platform ownership and CoE advice
• Platform structure, including domains, workspaces, and access strategies
• End-to-end development and deployment practices across semantic models, notebooks, and pipelines
• Tenant configuration, capacity planning, and cost control
• Security, governance, and observability across the platform
